Technology's Next C-Suite Role
CTAIO — Where CTO, CIO, and AI Converge
Why I Started CTAIO
After two decades building technology organizations — from leading 500+ engineers at adidas to standing up the tech function at Sweetgreen as CIO — I kept running into the same pattern. The CTO role, the CIO role, and AI leadership were converging into something new. But nobody was naming it, and nobody was building a community around it.
The Chief Technology & AI Officer isn't a title inflation play. It's the recognition that technology strategy and AI strategy are now the same conversation. You can't set an infrastructure roadmap without an AI position. You can't deploy AI at scale without understanding the platform underneath it. The leaders who get this are already operating as CTAIOs — they just don't call it that yet.
I built ctaio.dev as the home for this conversation. A weekly newsletter, hands-on labs, and a growing body of research for the technology leaders who are running both the org and the AI strategy — because those are no longer separate jobs.
