HYROX Toulouse 2026

Toulouse opens the late-winter HYROX calendar in France with a four-day event from March 19-22, 2026. Known as "La Ville Rose" for its distinctive pink-brick architecture, Toulouse is a vibrant university city in the south of France with a strong sporting culture rooted in rugby and cycling. The arrival of HYROX adds functional fitness to that tradition.

Racing in March means cool indoor temperatures that typically favour fast performances. For international athletes, Toulouse is an accessible destination with direct flights from across Europe and quick rail connections through the French TGV network.

Date & Venue

French HYROX events have typically used large exhibition and congress venues that can accommodate the full course and multiple athlete waves per day. Getting There

By Air

• Toulouse-Blagnac Airport (TLS) -- around 8 km northwest of the city centre. Tram line T2 connects the terminal to Jean-Jaures square in approximately 20 minutes. Served by Air France, easyJet, Vueling and several other carriers with direct European routes
• From the airport, you can also take a shuttle bus or taxi to the city centre in 15-20 minutes depending on traffic
• If flying from further afield, connections through Paris CDG or Madrid Barajas are straightforward

By Train

• Toulouse-Matabiau is the main railway station, centrally located and served by TGV high-speed services
• Paris Montparnasse to Toulouse-Matabiau takes approximately 4 hours 15 minutes by TGV
• Bordeaux to Toulouse takes around 2 hours by direct TGV
• Barcelona Sants to Toulouse is around 3 hours by TGV via the cross-border high-speed line
• Metro line A runs directly from Matabiau station to the city centre

By Public Transport

• Toulouse Métro has two lines (A and B) and a tram network covering the wider city
• The Tisséo network operates buses, metro, and tram services with integrated ticketing
• A day pass (Pass Journée) is the most convenient option for race weekend travel
• Taxis and VTC services (Uber, Bolt) are widely available from the city centre

By Car

• Toulouse is well served by motorways including the A61 from Bordeaux, A62 from Lyon, and A64 from the Pyrenees
• Parking in the city centre can be limited on busy weekends — pre-book a car park near the venue once it is confirmed
• Park-and-ride facilities (Parc Relais) on metro lines are a practical alternative to central parking

Where to Stay

Until the venue is confirmed, staying close to the city centre or near a metro station gives you the most flexibility on race weekend.

• Capitole / Jean-Jaures area -- the heart of Toulouse, with the main square, restaurants, and excellent tram and metro connections. Wide choice of hotels at all price points
• Matabiau / Carmes area -- close to the main railway station and metro line A. Practical for arrivals by train and convenient for early-morning departure after the race
• Saint-Cyprien / Garonne riverbank -- a lively neighbourhood on the west bank with independent restaurants and a relaxed atmosphere. A short walk or tram ride from the city centre
• Purpan / Airport area -- if you have an early flight back on Monday, staying near the airport avoids a morning tram journey with bags and kit
• Budget options including Ibis and B&B Hotels are well represented throughout Toulouse. Book early as March brings other events to the city

Tip: Once the venue is announced, check its proximity to tram and metro stops and adjust your accommodation accordingly. Toulouse hotel prices can rise sharply when major events coincide with a race weekend.

Training in Toulouse

Toulouse has a growing functional fitness scene, with several CrossFit affiliates and specialist studios that have the equipment needed for HYROX preparation.

• CrossFit affiliates -- Toulouse has multiple CrossFit boxes, several of which offer HYROX-specific programming or open gym sessions with SkiErgs and rowers. Check for guest day passes if visiting for the race
• Functional training studios -- a number of facilities across the city have invested in sled tracks, wall balls, and rowing machines that match HYROX course requirements
• Major commercial chains (Keep Cool, Fitness Park) are widely available but sled track availability varies by location — confirm before booking
• Contact gyms directly to confirm sled availability before travelling specifically for a training session

Running Routes

• Canal du Midi towpath -- UNESCO-listed canal with a flat, tree-lined path running eastward from the city centre. Ideal for long steady-state runs and widely used by local runners
• Garonne riverbanks -- riverside paths on both banks of the Garonne offer flat running through the city with good views and minimal traffic. Join at Pont Neuf or Pont Saint-Michel
• Prairie des Filtres -- a riverside park near Saint-Cyprien with open grass and paths, suitable for warm-up runs and drills
• The Canal de Brienne connects the Canal du Midi to the Garonne and provides a pleasant loop of around 8-10 km through green areas west of the city centre

Race Day Tips

• Arrive at least 90 minutes before your wave start. Registration queues and bag drop take time, especially at four-day events with large field sizes
• Collect your race bib and timing chip at the registration desk. Bring a printed or digital copy of your confirmation and a valid ID
• March temperatures in Toulouse are mild — typically 8-14°C outside — but race halls are climate-controlled and warm up quickly once athletes are competing. Dress in layers for the walk to the venue
• Bring your own nutrition. Gels, bars and drinks are available at HYROX vendors but queues build before popular wave times
• Spectators: Entry is typically free for supporters. Toulouse sports fans bring strong energy to indoor events
• Public transport back to the centre may be busier than expected on peak race days — allow extra time or book a taxi in advance
• The city centre is compact and walkable; use the post-race recovery walk to explore before heading home
